Writing for Blog Networks Like Empower Network

Since I decided that it was time for me to do my own writing, a few months ago, I’ve noticed a lot of sites for writers. These are normally networks set-up that allows people to write and receive compensation for their writing. Hence, me using the network that I’m currently writing on, Blogjob. While I think some of the more well known sites like Squidoo and Hubpages, have kind of paved the way for a lot of folks to get started, I see people opting to explore their options a little bit more. I’ve also come across sites like Empower Network that combine the idea of blogging with network marketing. Blogjob is my favorite network to write for, but I was still curious about sites like Empower Network and Internet Lifestyle Network.
Upon checking out both sites, I was honestly impressed with what I saw overall. However, the thing to keep in mind is that I am looking at this from a writer’s or a blogger’s point of view, and not a business opportunity point of view.
That’s where I think both networks fail. The whole allure of those types of networks is the business opportunity. On a site like Hubpages, Bubblews or Blogjob, the main component is that they are places for people who love to write. They are places where people could get at least some kind of compensation for doing what they love to do.
If you really look at the profiles on those network marketing networks, you’ll notice that there really isn’t too much writing. It appears that folks are so busy trying to promote their business, that they don’t have time to write. Ok, truth be told now, it’s not that they don’t have the time, it’s that writing is not their main priority.
It’s a different kind of breed, and although the best way to promote their pages is through Internet Marketing, the Affiliate Marketing side of it is lost, thus taking the incentive to write away. Writing on sites like Blogjob and Hubpages, where writers know that providing good content will be the ticket to earning income; writers look to write often and provide quality content.
I’m not saying that those networks are bad to write for. If you are a good Internet Marketer, then you would likely do well on those sites by being able to get people to join and write. The emphasis just isn’t on the writing however, for most people. In fact, the most money to be made on Empower Network comes from upselling their training products.
From a business opportunity standpoint, the sites look to be a legitimate option. My word of caution, of course, is that you have to be educated and know what you’re doing to succeed. It can actually be a great opportunity for the right person.
Personally, I would say no thanks and stay away from those types of networks as a writer. One of the benefits of joining a blogging or writing community, is that you get to interact with like minded people, and your writing is more visible to others. Honestly, I would self-host my own site before I would join a network like Empower.
As a matter of fact, writing this blog and being a member of, and promoting Leaders Club, is the same concept that Internet Lifestyle Network, and sites like it are using. I’m just getting the same quality training cheaper, and getting paid to write. Writing for me is a joy, and being able to make money from it is a bonus, not the other way around.
