With Network Marketing, there are a few ways to make money. Like a sales job, you can make money off of the product or services that you sell directly to your customers. The beautiful thing is, the more you sell, the more you earn. You basically get out what you put in. The most powerful way to make money in this industry, however, is through residual income.

This is what really separates having a career in Network Marketing and having a career in a normal job. Using the power of leverage, there are opportunities to earn that just isn’t possible with your average professions. This is why recruiting is such a big part of the equation.

If you want to earn residual income, then you need to grow your down line. But, how many people do you need to recruit in order to make a significant residual income? My advice is that you should always be recruiting. You may have heard before, that you only have to recruit a few people in order to really earn nice residuals.

Well, my problem with that is what if one of those people quit? Furthermore, what if something unforeseen happens to one of your top earners? Having worked in a few corporate jobs where the company put all of its eggs in one basket, I’ve seen what happens when you lose 60-70% of your income because you lost your one really big customer.

More and more, I’m hearing about diversifying in the workplace. That is, don’t make the mistake of resting on the business of one major customer or one major channel of income. It should be no different in your Network Marketing business.

The more people you personally sponsor, the bigger the potential of earning residual income from them, as well as their recruits. Duplicating, your work with a down line of 10 should net you better results, than duplicating with a down line of two or three.

More so, it may be possible to see great results with only recruiting two or three people, but it is very unlikely. It is even more unlikely, to net the same results as you would have, if you were to continually recruit.

The more work and the more recruiting that you put in now, the more you may be able to enjoy the fruits of your labor later. Depending on how large that you grow your organization, you will be able to stop sooner or later.

I’m of the school of thought, that you will always have to work your business in some way, if you want to continue to make income at a certain level. The same can be said with working at a normal job as well. The difference is that you can have financial freedom, and gradually enjoy more income with the same amount of work, through residual income; or you can work more to make other people money and not be able to enjoy the freedom.
