Educating the Average Person About Network Marketing

Now that I’ve just spent a few hours reading about how networking marketing is a scam, I now feel compelled to write. There are several blogs, one in particular, that I came across that doesn’t give the industry any love. The one that I disagree with the most actually list many reputable companies, that are part of DSA (Direct Selling Association) as scams. As you’ll notice by the theme of this blog, it’s not the scams, it’s a lack of being educated that hurts the industry.

There are noticeably more people who are claiming to be scammed than there are people who are willing to come out and say “hey, you’re just doing it wrong.” I know that there will be people who have issues getting refunds for something that they thought would be different than what it was when they signed up, but that’s where research should’ve come into play. I’ve been on the receiving end of having someone sell me on false promises before. I’ve signed up for an opportunity where the rep has made some not so accurate claims. But now I know what to look for because I’ve educated myself.

The reason that I decided to join Leaders Club and help enlighten the average person about network marketing is because there is a need for it. Furthermore, the more I tried to find resources and information about network marketing, the more I saw that there wasn’t much out there. Now, there are a few great blogs out that offer information as well as some programs that have been put together by those individuals; but, we need more of these.

I’ve also come across other network marketing opportunities like, Empower Network, which offer valuable training, but the training is too specific. With Leaders Club you can get the same training, minus the blog building stuff, for a fraction of the price. There are many low-cost options out as well if you want to learn the tech stuff.

To get back to the point, education is the missing and essential piece. If people were told what to look for when looking to join an opportunity then there wouldn’t be so many unsatisfied customers, that are claiming an opportunity is a scam. Yes, it starts with doing research and knowing how to find the best opportunity for your needs. Additionally, it continues as you grow your business, by learning how to prospect and close your sales.

My Podcast episode Finding The Right Direct Sales Company helps explain what marketers should be looking for when trying to find an opportunity that fits them.

Direct Sales in my opinion represents one of the best ways to enter into and run your own business. So let’s stop telling people, that it’s a bad idea, and start explaining to them why it’s a good idea if you go about doing it the right way.
