The Secret to being Successful in a Home Based Business
I don’t know if you’ve noticed or not, but there seems to be a lot of secrets on the Internet these days. Every time I look out there to see what’s happening in the Internet Marketing world, I come across another big secret, that someone is ready to reveal. These are normally secrets that someone has used to get rich, or enjoy profound success in a home based business opportunity. Well, I’m going to reveal a big secret of my own right now. Ready? Ok, there is no secret! That’s right, there aren’t any secrets on how to be successful.
Most skilled Internet Marketers, know how to do at least one thing really well. It’s called Marketing, and knowing how to market is a valuable skill set to have. The copy that you see on sales pages are designed to persuade you to take an action, called, a “call to action.” The action itself doesn’t matter as much, and could be anything from completing a form, to buying a product. What matters in this conversation, is how they get you to take action.
Good sales copy is concise, clear, engaging and persuasive. Being able to write good copy, is the difference between getting a visitor to your site, just to browse, and converting the sale. However, it’s not sales copy itself that’s the problem. The issue is, when marketers use exaggerations, or promise unrealistic results in their copy.
This is where I’ve been seeing the “Learn the secrets that successful network marketers don’t want you to know,” type of copy. There are many variations of this statement as well. It’s important to realize that sales pages are written to pull you into the opportunity. These pages, especially the unethical ones, play on your emotions and your vulnerabilities.
They want you to believe that if you buy their e-book, then you will become rich, just by reading 90 pages of a secret success formula. I’ll say it again, there is no secret. The secrets that are revealed, is the same education and training that has always been available to you if you look for it.
To be clear, I’m not saying that the e-book, in the example that I’ve been using, is useless. Furthermore, this is no bash on good ethical sales pages and copy. Affiliate Marketing success is based on the ability to convert a lead with good copy. I have sales pages that I use, to get people to take some sort of action, so that I can promote what I’m selling. The point is that you have to do your homework, because there are people who use deceiving tactics.
It’s important to research all opportunities before committing to spend any money. Education is the key to success, and there are some very good educational resources on the Internet. Don’t make a long-term financial decision based on a temporary emotion. If the opportunity makes sense for you today, then it should make sense for you tomorrow. If there are any secrets, that people don’t want you to know, it’s that there really aren’t any secrets.
