So, you’ve been reading my blog and have started to master the art of getting leads. You’re now signing people up like never before, but something still doesn’t feel right.
Now what could it be?
Ah, you’re still not selling your actual product as much as you need, or want to. After weighing the numbers, in order to not miss out on that commission that you’re downline is bringing you, you make a couple of big purchases of your own product. As Network Marketers we all have likely faced this issue at some points in our careers.
Here’s a few things that may work in your favor, and help you make more product sales.
1 - Product Swap/Exchange Groups
This is a great way to both make a few product sales, and support the great industry of Network Marketing. You can find and join these types of groups all over Facebook. They obviously work the best for marketers who sell actual physical products. Normally they allow one or two reps from a Network Marketing company, and also people who craft their own items. There is a cap on selling, so that everyone is on a pretty even playing field. For example, where one person isn’t exchanging or buying a $50 item in return for a $20 item.
2 - Offer An Incentive
Before you do this one, make sure that it isn’t against the rules of your Network Marketing company. The way it works is quite simple, and nothing new. It just isn’t really being used by a lot of marketers in this industry.
You basically offer your customer a complimentary item for buying a specific amount of product from you. Since it’s not uncommon to buy your own product anyway, you can use some of your lower priced items to the customer. In a previous company I was with, I didn’t mind giving away a five dollar item to someone that had just spent over one hundred dollars. Just make sure it’s something that they consider worthwhile or it may not work for too long.
3 - Local Family Owned Shops
Unfortunately, all of my current products are either digital or are in the form of a subscription service. Otherwise, I think I would be able to make some pretty nice dough from the convenience store down the street from my house.
By it being so close, I’m always in there, and have established a good relationship with the owner. I’ve seen her promoting a few of the smaller businesses in the area by letting them put a small kiosk up by the registers. If I sold physical product, I’m sure that I could work something out with her to sell my product as well.
This would be a good tactic to use for anyone who would have the right type of product for it.
4 - Give Away Samples
I’m not sure how many companies actually do this, but I’ve seen several that do. They let you order a sample size of the product to give away to potential customers. I’m under the impression that not many people take advantage of this try before you buy method.
Don’t underestimate the power of this. In fact, if you’ve ever been to a Flea Market or Trade Show, then you’ll know what I mean.
5 - Show Results
Ok, so this may be the most in the box method on the list, but it works too well not to include it. It's the old before and after picture trick. It’s using the product and letting people actually see the difference from when you first started using it.
It’s probably the easiest way to spark conversation about your product. People want to know that if they spend a premium on a product that claims to change live’s, that it’s going to deliver and live up to that promise.
For honorable mention, another method to use may be to sell at an online auction. This really depends on your Network Marketing company, because I know this is against the Terms for many of them. Also, I’m not sure if it’s now allowed on Ebay, but years ago I believe it was. There are other auction sites out there besides Ebay, so if it’s allowed, it may be worth looking into (will take extra work).
If you aren’t into parties or trade shows, then it could be challenging to sell your products. Furthermore, being able to simply drive traffic to your online store is harder than it sounds. With these methods you now have a way to at least draw some positive interest in what you have to offer.
Let me know if you have any other ideas.
