We all want to be successful in our businesses when we join a Network Marketing company, or any home based business for that matter. We may go out and get training from Network Marketing guru’s, or hear all about success stories as we do research the Internet. We set out to use this to either help us grow or for inspiration to keep moving forward.

Then something interesting happens. We end up trying to be just like the person from that success story that came from nothing, and is now making millions. We start to define our own success by the success that others have had.

Let us not forget that we define what our own success looks like.

What Does Success Look Like?

Now everyone considers the Network Marketer who has become a millionaire to be successful, but what about the mom who just wants to spend more time with her kids? The one who got into Network Marketing to add a part time income to help supplement the family’s main income, and has succeeded in bringing $500 a month.

Some people may define it by the bottom line. Did they make more money than they put into the business? Maybe it’s a combination of a lot of things.

Whatever it is, we should avoid the trap of trying to define success simply by the amount of money that is earned. If it’s only about the money, and how much that you can make, then you’re going to be missing out on some of the finer aspects of building your business.

What Does Successful Owners Do?

Successful business owners find a way balance everything in their lives. They are able to balance work and family. They take both very seriously and one is normally the motivating factor for the other.

Another thing is that they educate themselves on business matters, like how to promote their business, money management and any other aspects of owning a business that they feel they need to learn. More so, they realize that if they apply the knowledge that they learn, they will grow as both a person and as an entrepreneur. Additionally, that the knowledge may apply to their personal life as well as the business.

Lastly, a successful network marketer or business owner knows that manages their money is important. They understand the need to budget and manage their money appropriately. When first starting out, there will be a need to balance, and manage both family or personal expenses, and business expenses.

No Pressure

Remember that once you get into Network Marketing, you should be treating it like the business that it is. And owning your own business can be stressful enough without putting any extra pressure on yourself. Going into with the I need to be just like ‘him/her’ to be successful mindset can be just as derailing as it can be motivational.

I have a few friends that I consider to be successful, that work a normal job, and have families with a happy home. So, success truly is in the eye of the beholder. First, define what it looks like to you, and then take the necessary steps to make it happen.
