Social Media has become one of the most used marketing channels for Network Marketers over the past few years. According to Social Media Examiner, about 59% of all marketers are using social media for at least 6 hours per week. If you think about the fact that the majority of Network Marketers (about 92.5% as last reported by DSA.org) work part-time, then that means it’s extremely important for the average marketer to utilize their time wisely.

You could be wasting your time and efforts if you spend a lot of time doing non-value related activities like engaging in pointless conversations that add no value to what you are trying to accomplish, getting distracted, or spending too much time looking for content. These are just a few things that may derail the effectiveness of your Social Marketing efforts.

In order to avoid these pitfalls, you need to know how to effectively utilize your time on social media and how to get the most out of your actions.

Utilize Multiple Platforms

If you are only using one or two social platforms, then you could be missing out on an audience that you wouldn’t be able to find elsewhere. The more platforms that you are on, the more reach you have to potential prospects and customers. Being able to adapt your content for multiple platforms is the key to success in this area. Test out what works on each platform and see how your audience responds. Also, diversifying the content so that it is different across each platform, gives incentive for your audience to follow you across multiple platforms, as well as getting new followers.

Track Results

One of the most important things to do with any of your marketing efforts is to track and analyze results. This is no different when marketing on social media. You need to know what is working, and what’s not, so that you can tweak your campaigns to get the best results. Utilize the extensive analytics that most platforms now offer to find out what’s giving you the best ROI. By keeping track of your results, you can both save money and find out the best way to achieve your marketing goals.

Plan Ahead

Staying organized, will help you utilize one of the most valuable resources that you possess; time. It’s easy to get distracted while navigating through social media platforms, so planning ahead can help eliminate some of the noise. A strategy that successful marketers are using is to automate their postings. By doing so, you can post on a schedule and either free up time, or make up for times when you aren’t available to make a live post. Automating can also allow you to focus and find content all at once, and spread the posts out throughout the week. Keeping a schedule will bring organization to what may otherwise be a scramble for time on your part.

Know When To Post

This is the next step to planning ahead. It’s great that you can automate your posts and stay organized to better utilized time, but knowing when to post is even more important. You have to figure out and know when your audience is mostly online. A social media post at most, and depending on what platform you’re using has a shelf-life of 7.5 hours (just under 3 for Twitter). To get the fullest reach, you’ll want to post your content at times when it’s going to reach the most eyes. Again, this can be figured out by tracking your results and using analytics.

Use Social Media To Drive Specific Results

Let’s face it, you’re on social media for a specific purpose. Either you want to increase brand awareness, drive traffic back to your website, or form relationships with your prospects and customers that you wouldn’t otherwise be able to do. Take time to figure how your campaign is going to help you reach your specific goal, and then cater it towards that purpose. A social marketing campaign, like any marketing campaign should be based on aligning with measurable goals, and followed by actions that will help you attain those goals.

If you are already using these strategies with your social media campaigns and have more suggestions, then I would love to hear them. If you aren’t using these strategies already, then get started. You’ll be able to use your time more effectively, and get a better ROI from your marketing efforts.
